Sunday Morning Worship
This week we will continue our study of the Upper Room Discourse in our series from the book of John. One of the central points that Jesus addresses in his last sermon before his crucifixion is the deep fear and confusion of the disciples to Jesus’ announcement that he was about to leave them. This did not match their expectations of what their Messiah was meant to do. In this portion of his sermon, Jesus explains something of what it will be like for believers to follow Jesus now that he would not be present physically with them. How does one follow a king who seems unreachably far away? How do we even know what our king wants from us? Join us this week as we continue our study of the book of John as the disciple that Jesus loved delivers to us the words he heard from our Lord.

New Song for Worship on Sunday Evening
Take a few minutes to familiarize yourself with a new benediction hymn we will be singing this Sunday evening: “May the Peace of God.

Sunday School
Our study of Acts continues this week with Acts 10. Acts 9 was a transitional chapter as the Holy Spirit set the groundwork for the expansion of the Church to the Gentiles. To understand the power of that cultural divide, we could compare it to the kind of hate and anger that existed between black and white communities in America in the 1950’s. Legacies of injustice, remembered grievances, and social differences made reconciliation seem impossible. The idea that both groups would now be part of a unified kingdom of God seemed unimaginable in the first century. Chapter 10 tells us how the Lord Jesus through the Holy Spirit began the process of breaking down that divide.
